The Powerball Lottery

  The Powerball Lottery
Oh yes you see
Was exciting to dream about
What it would have meant to me
To be able to not worry
About a bill or to care
Where my next dollar would be going to
Yes on my drive down to Delaware
I was dreaming
About what all the money would buy
And when I got there
I could not believe
Just what met my eye
Not a hundred or a thousand
But only four did I see
Standing in line waiting
My heart jumped with glee
And because I was buying over one thousand
Tickets I let
The young man there behind me
Ahead because he
He had a young baby
Yes in his arms
And I knew I would be long
So I fet it was no harm
To let him ahead
And he thanked yes thanked me
And after twenty minutes it took to buy the tickets
The line behind me I did see
Yes see over a hundred
People waiting there
And some yes stared daggers
And some did not care
Some wished me luck
And some I’m sure that they said
Such a waste of money
But I did not care what they did say
Because the 1060 tickets that I purchased
Only 60 were yes for me
And they were pooled with two others
And the 1000 were for the
The crazy aunt of my wife’s
Who has money to burn
But guess what we won for my traveling
I guess I never will learn
That the chances were astronomical
But I am glad don’t you see
Because if I had not bought
At least one ticket
I would kick yes kick me
Because nothing ventured
Nothing gained
I yes have always been told
And I guess the next big drawing
I will listen to scolds
And I’ll go buy a ticket
To take a chance
Because see
The winner on that TV could
Oh yes could have been me
