A Bum

There is a man
That when most people see
They call a bum
But no not me
All of his possessions
He carries in
Two shopping carts
And he rummages in
Yes he looks through trash cans
To see if he
Can find a little food
That’s not spoiled so he
Yes he can finish
What someone else
Ate only partially
And then threw out
Yes this man
Who I have given to
Some would call a bum
But not me, I view
Yes I view him
As an angel sent
To remind me of the blessings
That the Lord has sent
And when I am down
And I think why me
I get into my car
And I go to see
Yes see this man
Who most do call a bum
I give him a few dollars
And inside me runs
Yes a prayer goes out
To my God above
To thank him for his goodness
And his love
So next time you see
A BUM, don’t see
A person who has less than thee
No help him out
And thank God that he
Sent this person here
To help you see
That you do have blessings
And if things were different
You could be
Yes be THAT BUM
That other’s see
