Tonight my son took a step that pleased
His mother, his nan and his dad you see
Yes he went to his first fifth grade dance
And he had fun and found romance
No I’m just kidding, when I say
He found romance in anyway
But he had fun and did dance twice
And for the first time
That was enough to suffice
He asked one girl and she said no
But he tried again and he danced real slow
Another girl ask if he’d like to dance
And he said yes and had his second dance
His father’s first dance that he went to
Was two years later, I was in seventh and knew
That not much courage I had as he
I attended three dances before I tried you see
Yes I was much more shyer than he
But I am glad for him, it did not take three
I’m really glad he had so much fun
And a heart breaker he will be, my son
