We build up fences
To cause defenses
Against those we should not
Sometimes we’re denses
Because our fences
Keep us from finding out
Things we should know
About those people
We should be the closest to
So tear now our fences
And maybe lenses
Will show us how we two
We two can get closer
The way we oughta
Instead of growing more apart
So let down your defenses
And jump over fences
We have built up because
We’re afraid to show our true self
If we do we’ll find real wealth
In breaking those fences down
So tear down the fences
And then our defenses
Will be nowhere to be found
