I wish I had the wisdom
\nThat my grandparents had
\nThey always gave me confidence
\nAnd never made me feel bad
\nIt seems with my son
\nI am critical
\nAnd quash his creativity
\nI want him to be better than
\nThe way I turned out to be
\nI say things without thinking
\nAnd want to take them back
\nI don’t want him to feel that way
\nIt just seems I have a knack
\nA knack of saying the wrong thing
\nI love my son and know
\nI need to build his confidence
\nAnd I have a long way to go
\nBut now I truly try to say
\nIf my words were wrong I say
\nPlease accept that what I said to you
\nWere not the right words to say
\nI pray to God to help me think
\nBefore my words spew forth
\nAnd pray I help my son to shine
\nAnd hurt his feelings no more<\/p>\n
