When we were kids
\nWe had no helmets to wear
\nWhen we skated, rode bikes
\nWe are still here
\nWe played at playgrounds with no rubber mats under the swings and sliding boards

\nWhen we played sports we did not have knee pads elbow pads or much protective gear
\nWe are still here
\nWe did not have a slew of vaccination shots growing up
\nWe are still here
\nWe took unrefrigerated sandwiches for lunch

\nWe walked to school and downtown and mostly everywhere
\nWe are still here
\nI know that all these things are designed to protect us
\nProbably today or tomorrow, I will have a tree fall on my head and
