The bank teller and the end of the world.
\nI don’t know if many people in my ‘season’ or age,
\nremember an episode of the original Twilight Zone
\nremember Henry Beamis the coke bottle thick bespectacled bank teller
\nwho loved to read and his wife was an ogre
\nand belittled and destroyed his books so he could not read his books
\nthat he so enjoyed.
\nHe would go down in the vault on his lunch hour to read.
\nThis one day while he was down there an explosion occurred
\nwhich when he came out turned out to be the end of the world .
\nHe roamed around searching to see what was left
\nand he finally found the remains of the library .
\nHe stacked up piles and piles of books on the steps
\nand was getting excited just thinking about all the books
\nhe would now be able to read.
\nHe bent over to look at one book
\nand his glasses fell off and
\nthen he knew that his dream was gone.
\nAfter all this lead in, my point is,
\nI feel a little like Henry but in a different way.
\nMy love to read was spurred only the last 2\/3rds of my life
\nand I feel like I am never going to be able to read
\nall the books I would like to. <\/p>\n
