I want to go back
\nTo when people did care
\nI want to go back
\nBefore it wasn’t a dare
\nA dare that something awful
\nWould happen if you did
\nDid not lock your doors
\nOh yes when I was a kid
\nYou did not have to worry
\nTo send your child off to school
\nOr that you would get shot
\nWalking in like a fool
\nYes into a dark street
\nOr an alley at dark
\nOh no when I was a kid
\nYou did not have to have street smarts
\nYes I want to go back
\nYes when neighbors did care
\nAnd they checked up on you
\nIf you did not call them and share
\nYes I want to go back
\nBut I know and am aware
\nThat the world that I knew
\nOh yes will not be there
\nBut maybe we each
\nCan show love and can teach
\nAnd much better we’ll care
\nIf we take love and share
\nWe must yes start at home
\nAnd then maybe this poem
\nWill help us all try to be
\nYes much better, we’ll see<\/p>\n
