His hands were so strong
\nAnd large as can be
\nHis strength and his courage
\nYes every one could see
\nBut now he’s a shell
\nOf the man that he was
\nAnd Alzheimer’s disease, is the cause, don’t you see
\nThis man who was vibrant
\nWho could do anything
\nNow knows no one, not eve his son
\nIf I only could see
\nYes see that he knew me
\nWith a twinkle of eye
\nBut now just blank stares meet me
\nAs I look in his eyes
\nOh where is the father
\nThe man that I see
\nIs no not the father
\nThat did once carry me
\nOh no he’s a stranger
\nAnd I am, so to him
\nNo laughter or any jokes
\nAnymore come from him
\nYou just do not know
\nWhat it does when your dad
\nWho was once to me a giant
\nIs shriveled, it’s so sad
\nThat man that I knew
\nYes has long gone away
\nAnd the shell that is left
\nJust exists every day
\nOh why did this happen
\nOh why must this be
\nWhy can’t my dear father
\nBe the man that I see<\/p>\n
