Here I sit at 4 AM
Eyes won’t close in sleep
At least I do not have
To work tomorrow
Or I’d be in trouble deep

Writing down a poem
Maybe if it’s long enough
My eyes will close this poem

Not knowing what to say
Watching out the window for
Yes the break of day
Now I am yawning
I’ll try to sleep
Hope I can get up
Or my son will be late for school
Oh I hate staying up
Did not know what to write about
Just could not sleep
