Today is your birthday
I remember the day well
Your mother was in labor for 26 hours
We did not know at the time but both you and your mom were at risk
God blessed us with a child
We had three doctors tell us you would be a girl
Well Gabrielle you turned out to be William Jay
William after your grandfather that died three weeks before you were born
And Jay after your Great Grandfather Nelson Jay
I am so sorry that you were not able to know either of them
I know you would have really enjoyed both if them
They both were characters
But of course you know your dad is one also
I know you have many guardian angels looking down on you
I know they have helped you through many tough situations in your 24 years of life
I am very proud of you and know you have many wonderful years ahead of you
I hope that I am here for your marriage and first child if that is what you want in life
I know that you learned about what
love is not
But I pray you learn what true love is
You have many roads to go down in the years ahead
I have many less roads ahead
I hope your joys in your life ahead out weigh your disappointments
I hope that I have been a good father to you
I know that you know that Barb and I always want the best for you
When you were born and I got to hold you and see this wonderful creation God enabled your Mom and me bring into the world
It was the best day of my life
I do hope and pray that you experience the same joy in your life
I know however that you are going to do many great things in your life
I am proud of you
And want you to have a great birthday today
And wish you many years of happiness ahead
None if us knows how many days ahead that we have
But I want you to know how many days of joy you have brought to mine
