Winter in my Youth

When I was young
When snow would fall
We’d wait to hear
The siren call
This sound did say
That for that day
No school there’d be
That meant that we
Could go all day
To play and sleigh
But now today
No siren’s play
They wait to hear
The number’s said
On radio
And then they go
To play and sleigh
In snow all day
But rarely now
Cause working now
I go to work cause I can’t shirk
Cause if I do no pay is due
And I can’t go
To play and sleigh
