Twas the day after Christmas
And all through the house
All the creatures were sleeping
Yes even the mouse
The stockings were flung
On the floor without care
Because old Saint Nicholas
Had finally been there
Yes ma in her kerchief
And me in my cap
Were trying so hard
Just to get a quick nap
When suddenly in the livingroom
We heard such a clatter
I rose to my feet
To see what was the matter
Old ma stayed in bed
Said will you check it out dear
I need my beauty rest
So will you be a real dear
So out to the livingroom
I flew in a flash
And saw that our cat
Had made the big crash
The mouse that was sleeping
Did finally awake
And tabby started chasing it
And up our tree it made an escape
So tabby she followed it
And brought down our tree
And that’s what the clatter was
Our crashing Christmas tree
So back to my bed
I did try to then go
But my children awoke
And wanted to play in the snow
So ma kept on sleeping
But the rest of us played
In the snow for the rest
Yes the rest of the day
