The greatest man I ever knew
Has been a long time dead
The greatest man I ever knew
I’m sure it could be said
That he was just a simple man
And never did too much
But this man that I feel was great
Was just a man that was
Yes was there when I needed help
Or just to talk cause he
Yes he loved me the way I was
I did not have to be
I did not have to be the way
That others thought I should
No I could just, just be myself
And I knew that he would
Would not compare me to another
Or say I’d never be
No never be just like someone
Who I felt I could be
No he just said
Just try your best
That’s all that you should do
This man that was great
Yes in my view
I wish you could have knew
This man I miss yes everyday
Was just a simple man
Yes I pray someday that someone says
I was just like this man
My grandfather did nothing great
At least in other’s view
But I am glad I had him for
The short time that I knew
