Don’t take away my very soul
With unkind words that take a toll
If we are kind then we can be
A grand example to all thee
If you want others to give all
Then cutting words won’t help at all
Just look for words that don’t offend
And bring the best out of all men
And women too because they are
The gentler sex I know by far
And even children are today
Not always kind because they say
The words they say are often those
Their parents uttered and who knows
Why they get upset when they hear
The very words they gave to their little dears
Please don’t repeat bad words you hear
And try to hold so very dear
The thoughts toward others that you meet
Because if you can say things neat
Then good words, kinds words, words upbeat
Will fill the world and will not heat
The tempers that can get real hot
From words that should not come from us
