Sometimes we have an emptiness
That hides within our soul
Some people fill it up
By taking on a role
Some people fill it when they write
Or when they sing or play
What is it that you use to fill
Your emptiness today?
Some of us have a yearning to
Help those along our way
To help them feel much better than
They did feel yesterday
If things I write, do something good
Then it gives back to me
A feeling of accomplishment
That no one else can see
Sometimes there’s people in our lives
That do not understand
That deep, deep feelings are inside
And they think you never can
Be tender, helpful, encouraging
Because they’re critical
The emptiness they feel inside
Does hold them back and still
They need to look at where they are
And where they need to go
Instead of being critical
About things they don’t know
So if you can, please see if you
Can help your fellow man
To fill their emptiness inside
In anyway you can
