A penny’s a small thing
That so often is found
On the ground in the gutter
In fact just all around
People just do not notice
They just keep passing by
And by chance if they see them
And they do catch their eye
If they have superstition
If it’s heads pick it up
But if tails they continue
And go on doing their stuff
Most times they won’t stop to
Pick them up cause they find
It is not worth the effort
They just won’t take the time
Is our Lord like a penny
That you just walk on by
Never pause and take notice
That he did give his life
Yes he died for all sins
And he rose just for you
To say death can’t defeat us
If we follow him through
So next time there’s a penny
On the ground pick it up
And think it’s a symbol
Of God and his love
Put it in your pocket
And remember when thee
Take it out that the small things
Make a difference you see
