Raise your Parents

Your parents raise you
But I’ll tell thee
I never thought tables would turn on me
No never when younger I thought I’d see
Me raising a grandparent who nurtured me
Yes in my midlife I did have to say
I became a parent, not the normal way
No I was not married
Did not have kids
No my loving Granny became my kid
She was dependent on me to care
And I found things I was not aware
Aware of what I would have to do
Taking care of someone who had grew
Grew into a person who could not care
For anyone and was not aware
Aware who I was or what she did
To help me be able to raise a kid
Yes t’was like raising because I cared
For this great person who never dared
Dared not to give me yes all she had
When tables turned I did feel so bad
That she did not understand how much
She had so given to me and such
Such a great person she was when had
All of her memories now gone bad
Bad cause she did not know me when died
I was a stranger so in her eye
So treasure moments and let ones know
How you do love them before memory goes
